"Curly" was the 8th child born to Iram and Christiana James, immigrants from Australia. He was the 2nd child born in the United States. The James family came to the U.S. at the request of Ellen G. White of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1901 where Iram became her master gardener at her Elmshaven estate in St. Helena, Napa, Ca. They lived in the cottage behind EGW's estate and went on to have 13 children. Curly married Annie Emily Baker and they had 2 children, Kenneth Alden "Jim" James and Delmer Eugene James. They lived many years in Southgate Ca, where Curly had a machine shop and during WWII they had government contracts making parts for aircraft. In the early 1950's they sold their house and business and bought a ranch in British Columbia Canada where they farmed and raised cattle. They were soon followed in the 1960's by their 2 sons and their families.
