Citizens & Georgian – Montezuma , Ga. November 19, 1975 MRS. ALFRED DEANS [Effie James] FOWLER Funeral services for Mrs. Effie J. Fowler held Monday. A beloved Macon County resident for 25 years, Mrs. Effie James Fowler, died Friday, November 14, at the home of her son in Leesburg , Georgia after a lingering illness. Mrs. Fowler was 84 years of age but until the last few months, despite her illness, was very active in her church and continued to write and supply material for the local newspaper. Mrs. Fowler was born in Kellyville , Australia and had served as a missionary in China , Singapore and Cuba . Her husband, Alfred Deans Fowler, also a missionary, preceded her in death ten years ago. They were both members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church . Surviving Mrs. Fowler are her son, Dr. Mark w. Fowler of Leesburg , Ga. ; four sisters, Mrs. O. W. Cookson of St. Helena , California ; Mrs. Elma Brown of Redland , California ; Mrs. Winnifred Durnfors of Los Angeles , California ; Mrs. Mona Kephart of Menlow Park, California and a brother, Ellsworth T. James, of San Jose, California; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Fowler were held Monday, November 17, from the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Steve Willsey and Pastor Gus Scheuneman officiating. Interment was in the Church Cemetery . Pallbearers were: Glen Chase, Glen Lee Chase, Howard Priehs, P. G. Poteet, Lee Windham and John Ed Tallent. Watson – Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
