George Otis Stroup, 90, of 605 Chestnut Street, Keyser, a former resident of Cumberland, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital. He formerly resided at 164 Bedford Street. He was born in Fisher, Pa., a son of the late Arnold H. and Mary E. (Wierich) Stroup. He was a retired employee of Amcelle Plant of Celanese Corporation where he worked in the Acetone Recovery department. He was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church and was a 40-year member of Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Stroup is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace (Stahlman) Stroup; (she died 1964) four sons, Otis Henry Stroup, Severna Park; Glen W. and Richard S. Stroup, Baltimore, and Ira D. Stroup, Franconia, N.H., and three daughters, Mrs. Urner Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Raymond Easton, this city, and Mrs. William Stewart, Keyser, with whom he resided; a sister, Mrs. Franklin Hoff, Warren, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Leasure-Stein Fumeral Home from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Saturday. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 3:30 pm Sunday by Rev. Lester Welch, pastor of Centre Street Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
