CANAAN, IN – 17 July 1993 – Mattie Cole Bishop, 76, died July 17, 1993 at the Dreyer Naus Nursing Home/Batesville from cancer. She was the widow of Virgil Bishop and a native of Clay County, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy Robinson Cole.

She is survived by three daughters, Bertha Morris, Moores Hill, IN; Maggie Isaacs, Safford, AZ; Mary A.
Eversole, Booneville; seven sons, Robert Bishop and George Bishop of Moores Hill; James Bishop and Jobbie Bishop of Oneida; Calloway Bishop and Virgil Bishop, Jr. of Booneville and Samuel Bishop of Canaan, IN.

Also, surviving is a sister, Sudie Duff of Ricetown; five brothers, Jim Cole, Irvin Cole, Tom Cole and Marion Cole all of Booneville; John Arthur Cole, Franklin, TN; 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Searcy and Strong Fuenral home with Rev. Joey Burns
officiating. Burial was in the Hensley Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
