Myrtle Lorraine Smith, was born July 8, 1898 in Kinsley, Kansas to Carlos J and Ella M (Sweetser) Smith.
She married Lawrence Combs in 1919 in Wichita, Kansas. To this union three children were born.
She lived most of her early years in Wichita. Then moved to California, where she married Clemons O. Reed July 14, 1930 in San Diego, Cal. To this union 6 children were born, Loren D., Carol, Robert Dale, Nancy and Gary Errol, who died when he was four. Loren Dee also preceeded her in death, he was killed in action in Korea in Sept 1951
She died March 3, 1979 in Wichita, Kansas. She is survived by her children Don V. Combs of Seattle, Wash,. Marilee Walters of El Cajon, Calif and Jerry Combs of Wichita. Carol Hinds,. Tahlequah, Okla., Robert & Dale Reed of Wichita, and Nancy Lee also of Wichita. Her brother Rollo O. Smith and her parents preceeded her in death.
Mom loved to play the piano, when we were growing up and we used to gather around it and sing, sometimes for an hour or more. She was a very good kind loving mother and one of her passions was going to the movies, and also the wrestling matches.
She was buried in the Old Mission cemetery next to our Dad, and close by was her son Loren.
