Homer Angus Thayn grew up in Wellington area and attended eight years of school there. He and his siblings walked a distance of four miles each way to school when they lived on a ranch on the east side of Wellington. When the weather was bad they drove a team and wagon. After graduating from the 8th grade Homer attended school at the Emery Stake Academy at Castle Dale, Emery, Utah for one year. Then it was necessary for him to help his father with the dairy business and farming. Sometimes they has as many as fifty cows to milk by hand night and morning, then deliver the milk to the coal mining camps.

After he married Sylmer Beal he helped his father until he built up a dairy herd of his own. He served on the Wellington Town Council, was secretary of the Canal Board and Water Master, and a Mayor of Wellington. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served diligently in many positions throughout his life. His life was one of complete service to the Lord. He was a very kind, patient and gentle man. He was honest in all his dealings.

In 1950 the family moved to Lehi,Utah. He served in the Salt Lake and Provo Temples until he was released because of ill health. He exhibited great patience in life and in death. He lived nobly and died nobly. He felt that oe of his greatest rewards in life was to have a righteous posterity.

Homer died May 24, 1980 in American Fork hospital.
