Ebenezer Hunt Thayn was the youngest of five sons born to John Johnson Thayn and Elizabeth Hunt Thayn. His mother died when Ebenezer was 9 months old. His father's first wife, Sidney, lovingly raised him. His father owned a saw mill in Thayne's Canyon in the mountains east of Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Woodland, Utah and then to Wellington where the winters were not so hard.

Ebenezer met and married Rosilla Branch in the St. George Temple September 20, 1900. After they were married Ebenezer farmed and raised cattle, and bought and sold property in Wellington. Ebenezer and Rosilla were the parents of eight children. They were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of their lives and taught their children the principles of the gospel. Ebenezer was especially known for his gentle kindness and implicit honesty.

Ebenezer was struck by a car and died November 27, 1954 in Price, Utah.
