He was born July 17, 1907 in Wellington, Utah to Ebenizer Hunt and Rosella Branch Thayn. John married Della A. Gillespie on March 20, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.John was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. He worked hard at many occupations such as ranching, dairy farming and truck driving. He was always a man of his word and loved his family.
He is survived by his children: John Robert (LueAnn) Thayn, LeRoy Gene (Carol) Thayn, Gary Joe (Janet) Thayn, Larry Peach (Patricia) Thayn, Sharon (Claude) Long, Darwin D. (Kay) Thayn, Bonnie K. (Wesley) Bitters, 36 grandchildren and numerous great and great great-grandchildren. Also survived by one brother and one sister. Preceded in death by his wife Della, one daughter, one great-grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the Wellington 1st Ward LDS Chapel located at 50 N. 100 East in Wellington. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and form 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Wellington Cemetery.
