Pete M. Guardado, 58, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, unexpectedly.
He was born July 17, 1953, to Pedro M. and Josephine G. (Lopez) Guardado.
Mr. Guardado married Deigh Dunning on January 7, 1972.
He worked as the meat market manager at Apple Market and was in the trade for 37 years.
He was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus 5067, Past Grand Knight, and was active organizing the Memorial Mass every year. Pete served on the St. Francis Parish Council for two terms, a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, and a sponsor for married couples, all at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He also was involved with prison ministry.
Pete loved working, whether it was his career, house, yard or church. He loved his family, grandchildren, and everyone he came into contact with.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louie; infant sister, Kathy; mother and father-in-law, Marvin and Delores Dunning.
Survivors: his wife, Deigh Guardado of the home; two sons: Thad (Adona), Kansas City, Mo.; and Brad Guardado, Prairie Village, Kan.; two grandchildren, Brynn and Jacob Guardado; brothers and sisters, Juanita (Ralph) Cruz, Theresa (Gary) Wescott, Pauline Mejia, Raymond (Janet) Guardado, Carmen (Frank) Ellis, Delores Dyer, Anna (Ron) Reno, Mike (Lynette) Guardado, Lupe (Warren) Sparks, Bob (Barb) Guardado, Charlie (Donna) Guardado, Maggie (Marty) Schnabel, Frank (Kris) Guardado, and Albert (Debbie) Guardado; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Kathy, David and Mary, and Denney and Janet Dunning.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with a Parish Rosary at 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or St. Francis Xavier House of Bread or Prison Ministries c/o St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
