RAYMOND "RAY"'S OBITUARY

Ray moved to heaven from his home on Pacific Street, just where he wanted to be, on May 1, 2018. He was born October 30, 1942 to Pedro M. and Josephine G. (Lopez) Guardado. He worked at Dugdale Packing Co., Paramount Liquor Co. and retired from Johnson Controls in 2007.

He attended Holy Rosary and St. Patrick's School and was in the graduating class of 1960 from Christian Brothers High School. He attended St. Patrick Church where he was an altar boy, usher, communion minister, and on the Parish Council. He was involved in Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena, Mexican Fiesta, also attending many Men's Clubs and events of our Lady of Guadalupe horse shoe tournaments. He refereed basketball, at the high school and college levels, for over 25 years. He loved teaching and taking his grandson to Muchenbergers where he spent a lot of time along with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Louie, Pete and Mike and infant sister Kathy, mother and father-in-law Joe and Iva Baur. He was also preceded in death by sister-in-law Dorothy Hubbard and brothers-in-law George Baur, Raymond Baur, Jerry Mejia and Roger Dyer.

Surviving is his caring wife, Janet "Hanker", for almost 55 years, daughter Kim (John) Harvey, and grandson Jack Harvey (who he loved spending time with and watching him play sports); son Christopher. Brothers and sisters Juanita (Ralph) Cruz, Theresa (Gary) Westcott, Pauline Mejia, Carmen (Frank) Ellis, Delores Dyer, Anna (Ron) Reno, Lupe Sparks, Bob (Barb) Guardado, Charlie (Donna) Guardado, Maggie (Marty) Schnabel, Frank (Kris) Guardado, Albert (Debbie) Guardado, sisters-in-laws Marguerite Snyder, Deigh Anne Guardado and Lynette Guardado; numerous nieces and nephews.

Parish Rosary 6:00 PM Thursday evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Inurnment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri, at a later date.

Per his wishes, Mr. Guardado will be cremated following the service.

Praise and thanks to the Lord and our Mosaic Hospice "Family", who gave quality care, help and support to Ray's immediate family. A thanks too for all, Dr. Phils, Judge Judy, the "turkeys" and anyone that would listen to his stories. He was also known as Papa Gramps, Tequila Joe with his Marguerita Mary, the crazy neighbors, "Lovely Hank and Loser Ray", # 5 and the "Pacific Street Philosopher."

A very special thanks to our daughter who came daily, nightly or whenever called upon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. Patrick Church and/or Mosaic Hospice.
