Obit for Abraham Knouse.
Abraham Knouse, a well known and respected citizen of the upper end of the county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George McHenry, in the Benton township, Tuesday morning about five o'clock, after suffering since last fall with dropsy. He was aged seventy-four years on the 8th of last January. He was twice married, his second wife dying several years ago since which time during the summer, he has been living alone on his farm near Central spending the winters with his daughter, where he was when taken ill and at the time of his death. He is survived by the following children; John W. Knouse, of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Atley McHenry, of Williamsport; Mrs. Frank Ash and Mrs. Jasper Shultz, of Raven Creek; Mrs. George McHenry, of Benton township; Alexander Knouse, Samuel, Thomas and Perry Knouse, of Jackson; Mertia Knouse of Berwick; and Mrs. Hester Peterman, of Nordmont. Besides these children the following brothers and sisters also survive him: Jacob, Perry and Samuel Knouse, of Jackson township, Alexander, of this Borough and Washington Knouse, of Benton township, Jackson Knouse, of Michigan; Mrs. Peter Nagle, of Michigan; Mrs. Charles Messinger, of Jackson township and Mrs. Clarence Kreasler, of Pine township. Mr. Knouse was a life long resident of the community in which he died, and for many years has been one of the successful farmers of this section of the country and had the respect and confidence of a large number of friends. He was a consistant member of the M.E. church for many years in which when his health permitted, he took an active interest.
The funeral was held on Thursday, meeting at the home and after a short service in charge of Rev. Diehl, of Jamison City, the body was taken to the church at Derrs where the services were concluded, and the interment made.
The pall bearers were R. K. Hess, Peter Dildine, Frank Hartman, Albert Hartman, Abe McHenry, and McClelland Fritz.
