Leland Wendorf Berry, 65 of Canton died Thursday, Oct. 6 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born April 27, 1923 at Vichy to Garrett A. and Clarice Livingston Berry. On April 24, 1942 he was married at Lebanon to Mildred Downey Nash, who survives at the home.

Mr. Berry lived in Tuscumbia as a youth and attended elementary and high school there, graduating in 1940. He also attended the Iberia Junior College and was a graduate of the University of Missouri. He moved to Canton in 1950 and was employed with the Canton Press News from 1950 until 1954 and with the Quincy Herald Whig in Illinois from 1965 until his retirement in 1985.

During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps in England and then with the occupation forces in Germany. He was a member and had served on the board of the Immanuel Chritian Church in Canton.

In addition to his wife, M. Berry is survived by a daughter, Karma Crowell of St. Louis; a son, William F. Berry of Canton; a sister, Mary Jo Tyler of Jefferson City; two brothers, Judson Berry of Jefferson City and Conley Berry of Sunrise Berach; three grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.
