Mrs. Herman Brendel, 86, passed away in Town Herman Sunday morning at 8 o'clock after a lingering illness.
Nee Wilhelmine Grunewald, she was born April 2, 1855, the daughter or Gottfried and Wilhelmine Grunewald, in Germany. In 1867 she came to America with her parents, and married Herman Brendel Oct. 8. 1876. With her husband she lived in Town Herman for 66 years, and Mrs. Brendel was a home-loving, familv woman known for her care with children and homework.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ida Meyer and Mrs. Clara Winkle, the latter of Howards Grove; two sons, Otto and Walter of Howards Grove, 21 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Bartz, as well as two sons and a daughter who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held in the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral home at Howards Grove at 1:30 Thursday and at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran church in Town Herman with the Rev. Walter Kitzerow officiating. Burial will be in, the adjoining church cemetery.
