Julia Lawson Bishop, age 83, of Union, SC, passed away Friday, October 26, 1984, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Union, daughter of Jordan Franklin Fant Bishop (1871–1954) and Martha Delia Foster Bishop (1871–1955); wife of the late Fred Roper Bishop (1899–1975).

Member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Ruth Bishop Walker (1921-1994), Hazel Bishop Trent (1927–2011), Mildred Cornelia Bishop Russell (1929-1996), and Betty Jean Bishop Belue (1932-2005); sisters, Althea Bishop Bishop (1899-1992), and Nancy Jane Bishop Stevens (1915-2007); brothers, Farr Adolphus Bishop (1905-1993), John Thomas Bishop (1908-1984), and Arthur Jones Bishop (1910–1987); six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Also predeceased by brothers, Fant Foster Bishop (1897–1971), Hopper Porter Bishop (1912–1953), James Franklin Bishop (1902-1973), and Reuben E. Bishop (1918-1939).

The family received friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 1984, at Brown Bolton Jolly Mortuary.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 28, 1984, at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church by Rev. Gene Whelchel and Rev. Jerry Lawson; burial in the church cemetery.
