Azel Adin Joy was born on November 25, 1912, to Elmer and Stella Hunt Joy on a farm east of Narka, and died October 27, 1980, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 2 days.

He graduated from the Narka grade and high schools. He was a farmer-stockman and lived most of his life on the farm where he was born.

On August 31, 1938, he was married to Leona Lorene Lesovsky in Concordia, Kansas. To this union two children were born.
He was a member of the Narka Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Leona; daughter, Mrs. William (Lorene) Holloway; son, Charles; two grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Joy of Narka, Mrs. Phil (Bessie May) Cole, Casco, Maine.

Memorial services were held on October 29, at 10 a.m. at the Narka Presbyterian Church in Narka. Officiating were Rev. Tom Ballard and Rev. Karen Kokles. Interment was at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
