Elmer Guy Joy, son of Sarah (Sholl) and Adin Joy, was born on a farm northeast of Narka, November 20, 1889, and departed this life at the St. Joseph's hospital in Concordia July 30, 1958, at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
He lived his entire life in the Narka community until the last nine weeks when he was a patient in the hospital. He received his schooling in the Star District school and made farming his life's occupation.
He was united in marriage to Stella Hunt on May 18, 1910. Three children were born to this union, Bernice Eileen, Azel Adin, and Bessie May.
His life of service and devotion to his family will always be remembered by those left to mourn him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella, his father and mother; two brothers, Everett E. and N. C.
He is survived by his children, Bernice, Bessie, and Azel; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Feil and Bertha Graham; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Sylvan S. Poet at the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
