Mrs. J. A. Bodenhamer Dies in California
But a few days over six months after the death of John A. Bodenhamer, his widow, Miriam Osborn Bodenhamer, died April 27, in California, aged 84 years, two months and ten days. The funeral was held in Santa Ana, Monday, April 30. The Rev. Blaine G. Bronner, pastor of the Alamitos Friends church, assisted by Nathan Pinson of Pasadena, who is 88 years of age and a lifelong friend of Mr. and Mrs. Bodenhamer, and the Rev. Lindley Wells of Long Beach conducted the services. Interment was in Fairhaven cemetery. The following grandchildren served as pallbearers: Harold and John Bodenhamer, Paul and Leslie Dozier, Charles King and Harry Hairston.
Mrs. Bodenhamer is recalled by older citizens of central Hendricks county. She was born February 17, 1844, the daughter of Jesse and Lydia Bales Osborn, the last of her parents' family to pass away.
She was united in marriage with John A. Bodenhamer, March 19, 1868 and founded their home in Hendricks county. To them were born five children, Dr. E. A. Bodenhamer, Emma Carter, Homer A. Bodenhamer, Rowan O. Bodenhamer who died June 13, 1911, and Mrs. Elva Dozier.
In 1903, she and her husband moved to Long Beach, California. Eighteen years ago they took up their residence in Garden Grove, their late home being on West Chapman street. Her husband, John A. Bodenhamer preceded her, having passed on October 12, 1927.
Miriam O. Bodenhamer was a devoted wife and mother and her chief interest was in her home. She was a birthright and lifelong member of the Friends church. Due to her religious belief and her love for nature, she looked for, and invariably saw the plans and handiwork of God.
