Albert Delea Cameron, 83 of Chester Gap, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
Albert was born March 2, 1925 in Warren County to the late Robert Scott Cameron and Brucie Mae Mahoney Cameron. He was one of 7 children, 5 brothers James B. Cameron, Daniel Webster Cameron, Henry C. Cameron, and R. Delaney Cameron all of whom have passed away and Jesse L. Cameron of Front Royal, and one sister Nannie Mae Spears of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
As a young man Albert worked at Remount as a teamster. Then after meeting his wife Gertrude D. Wines Cameron, who also has passed away in 1973, went to work for Stokes Grocery in Front Royal as a delivery boy and later becoming the butcher. After working there approxiatmently 20 years he went to work for Maynard and Melvin Williams doing construction. He was with them for 20 plus years before retiring. Albert was also a lifetime member of the Chester Gap Vol. Fire Department holding many offices from 1966 to 1970.
He is preceded in death by all three of his children, Brenda L. Cameron Jenkins, A. Gary Cameron, and L. Elaine Cameron Tharp, and one grandson Jason Russell Tharp .
He is survived by his 4 grandchildren Angie Norman, her husband Randy Norman, Carrie Foster, her husband Dave Foster both of Chester Gap, Kayla Payne of Front Royal and Darren Tharp of Culpeper, 6 great-grandchildren Randi Lynne Norman, Dylan Norman, Katie Norman, Jonathan Norman all of Chester Gap, Issac Foster of Chester Gap, and Cameron Payne of Front Royal.
Albert loved being around people and going to the Chester Gap Store every evening when he was younger to aggravate all of the younger children that would come in. He loved going to ball games to watch his son, grandson, and nephews play ball. He also loved sitting on his front porch in the summer time watching people pass by waiting for someone to say hello.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with the Pastor Jim Williams officiating.
Family night will be Friday from 7:00 till 9:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Tommy Williams, Jeff Williams, Melvin Williams, Hubie Gilkey, Randy Norman, and Ronald Spears.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Chester Gap Fire Department.
Burial will be in the Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap.

In addition to the above named siblings, Albert was also predeceased by a brother Theodore Cameron. Sadly, Albert's mother and Theodore died at childbirth on March 30, 1936 when Albert was only 11 years old. It was said to be the saddest funeral ever witnessed by those present as all seven of the remaining little Cameron children gathered around their mother's grave.
