Highly and Respected Physician and Farmer of Elloree Passes Away

Special to the State (issue 11/11/1908)

Elloree, Nov 10 : Dr. Jacob C. Arant died at his home about five miles from here Sunday morning at 8 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. Dr. Arant was about 76 years old and his survived by two brothers, two sisters and three children. His wife having died some years ago. The deceased was a highly respected citizen and was much beloved as a physician. Some years ago he gave up the practice of medicine and devoted all of his time to his farm. He had been actively engaged in this work for a number of years and was very successful. The deceased was an amiable gentleman of the old school and will be great missed in his community. The funeral services took place at the Jerice (sic) Methodist church of which deceased was a consecrated member.
