In 83rd Year
After Long Illness

Michael A. Arant, prominent farmer of the Bowman section, died at his home Saturday night after being in ill health for some months. Mr. Arant was 83 years of age, and one of the few remaining veterans of the War Between the States.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Shiloh Methodist Church, where they were conducted by Rev. W. C. Felder, Rev. Henerey and Rev. Beckham. His war record was read at his grave by Mr. F. F. Schiffley, a brother member of the U. C. V. post.
Mr. Arant is survived by his widow and the following children: M. A. Arant, R. K. Arant and Mrs. B. D. Funchess, of Orangeburg; G. H., F. F., and J. A. Arant, of Bowman, and Mrs. Dan Funchess, of Rowesville.
