Sedley Martin LINGO was the son of Walter M. LINGO and Bartie Ann DENNIS. He was the husband of Mildred (Larson) LINGO and the father of two sons.

"SEDLEY M. LINGO -- Sedley M. LINGO, 97, of Fort Collins and formerly of Loveland died Dec. 3, 2003.

He was born July 5, 1906, in Norwich, Iowa. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law David and Shirley LINGO; daughter-in-law Ana Martinez LINGO; two grandsons, Dennis (Julie)[LINGO], and Steven (Lise) [LINGO]; and by two great-grandson, Matthew and Luke [LINGO]. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and a son, James. He was married for 45 years to Mildred LARSON of Brookings, S.D.

After obtaining degrees in agricultural economics from South Dakota State University, Sedley spent his career in federal civil service with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He retired from the SCS in July of 1969 as senior administrative officer for the state of South Dakota. He and Mildred moved the same year from Huron, S.D., to Loveland and resided at 1010 W. 30th St. He had been living at Columbine Care Center West in Fort Collins.

Sedley was best known for his extensive volunteer work in Loveland. He was most noted for his toy repair activity for the Philo Club's annual Santa Shop, work with House of Neighborly Service, and more than 20 years of driving and delivering for the Loveland meals on Wheels program. He received numerous awards and recognition for his volunteer work, including being named Larimer County Volunteer of the Year in 1985. Humanitarian Award from the people of Loveland through the Chamber of Commerce in 1987, and in 1978 the Service to Mankind Award from the Loveland Sertoma Club.

His retirement activities also included the research and writing of an extensive history of the LINGO family settlement and development.

Funeral services with be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland, with visitation by friends and family at the church one hour prior. Cards and memorials after the funeral can be addressed to David LINGO......

Memorials to the family will be distributed to Sedleys church and favorite charities.

Allnutt Funeral Services' Drake Road Chapel in Fort Collins is in charge of arrangements."
