BEATRICE MARCELLA PARKS, 94, formerly of Ulster, died Saturday morning, July 24, 1999, at the Tioga Nursing Facility, Waverly, N.Y. Born Jan 19, 1905, in Warren Center, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Iona Canfield Chaffee. Beatrice attended the Warren Center and Towanda schools. On Sept. 9, 1926, she married Oscar Parks. During World War II she was employed by the Sylvania Electric Co. in Towanda. Mrs. Parks was a member of the Ulster United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ulster-Sheshequin Fire Company Auxiliary, the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary and former Ladies Rebekah Lodge, Sheshequin. Her main interest in life encompassed her home and family. Beatrice enjoyed playing the piano, the outdoors and working among her flowers. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Doris Parks of North Orwell; three granddaughters and their spouses: Lucille and Lee Kilmer of Ames, Iowa, Loretta and Brian Chaffee of North Orwell, and Karen and Ronald Brown of North Orwell; seven great-grandchildren, Carol, Amy, and Jason Kilmer, Erica and Jamie Brown, and Brianna and Alicia Chaffee; a sister, Christine Rowe of Conklin, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Parks, in October of 1970; an infant son, in 1938; an infant granddaughter, in 1962; two brothers, William and George Chaffee; and three sisters, Alice Mosher, Idell Chaffee and Edith Barnes. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Bowen-Farr Funeral Home, Ulster, with the rev. Sandra Foster, pastor of the Ulster United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rome Cemetery, Rome. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Ulster United Methodist Church, Ulster, Pa. or to the Rome Cemetery Association, Rome, Pa. in Mrs. Parks' memory. –Towanda Daily Review.
