Mr. Corry was a graduate of Flora High School, where he was a member of an undefeated football team. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Millikin University in Decatur in 1947, where he played on the only undefeated varsity football team in Millikin's history. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He received his Master's Degree from Western Illinois University.

Mr. Corry served in the Pacific Theatre with the United States Navy during World War II, reaching the rank of Lieutenant J.G.

He taught math and other subjects for 41 years, 37 of which were at LaHarpe Community District High School. At various times, while teaching at LaHarpe, he also coached football, basketball, baseball, track, wrestling, chess, and JETS teams, and drove a school bus. In 1967 he was named "Hancock County Teacher of the Year."

He was a member of LaHarpe United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over twenty years. He was also a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and chess, traveling, and playing board games. His greatest joy came from his family and from interacting with his students through the years.
