Mr. Byron Manley Caylor, Sr. of Savoy went home to be with his Lord on Thursday February 28, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Mr. Caylor passed from this life at the Clyde Cosper Veterans Nursing Home in Bonham, Tx. Funeral services will be held Monday March 3, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the New Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Rodney Sprayberry officiating. Internment with Naval Honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David, Larry, Jerry, Ricky, Bruce Caylor, Doug Cameron, Bill Smart, Frank Hazelwood. Honorary Pallbearers Lee Francis, Dub Rhudy, Fred Shearer, T.J. Brownfield. Family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Mr. Caylor was born July 27, 1926 in Whitewright, Tx. the son of William Lester and Rosalee Martin Caylor. Mr. Caylor attended Bonham High School and the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, and a longtime member of the New Zion Baptist Church.

On September 10, 1954 he married Alice Hazel Cameron in Ravenna, Tx.. He was a retired Herbicide Tech.with the Texas Department of Highways. Mr. Caylor honorably served in the US Navy during WWll participating in the invasion of Saipan, Marianas Islands, June 15 through June 22, 1944 aboard the USS Alcyone, for which duty all vessels participating were commended by the Commander of Amphibious Forces. Mr. Caylor received the WWll Victory Medal, Asistic-Pacific Campaign Medal 2 Stars, Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon 1 Star.

Surviving are wife Alice Caylor of Savoy, Son Byron Manley Caylor Jr. and wife Donna of Savoy, Daughter Rosemary McKenzie and husband Kris of San Angelo, Tx., Daughter Rhonda Caylor of Savoy, Daughter Alicia Patterson and husband Darrin of Savoy. Grandchildren David, Joshua, and Sarah McKenzie of San Angelo, Tx., Katia, Callie and Jake Caylor of Savoy. Brothers Duane Caylor of Ravenna, Barry Caylor of Ravenna Aunt Lula Mae Farmer of Dallas, Tx. Sisters-in-law, Morene Caylor, and Betty Caylor of Ravenna, Opal Caylor and Brother-in-law, Jack Hall of Ravenna, Tx.


Preceded in death by Sister Aurelia Hall, Brothers Bruce Caylor Sr., W.L. (Dub) Caylor, Howard Caylor, Bill Caylor.
