Obituary

Don Anthony Kramer was born on September 6, 1929, in Lucan, Minnesota the son of Anton and Dora (Norcutt) Kramer. He graduated from high school in 1947 and furthered his education at the University of Minnesota receiving his Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Don served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On December 1, 1956 Don was married to Doris Abel in Baltimore, Maryland at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. After Don was honorably discharged the couple lived in North St. Paul where he worked for Nobles Engineering. He was later offered a job by Motorola in Chicago where the family lived in Oak Park. He was employed by Dahlberg Engineering to build hospital communications equipment so the family returned to Minnesota. After two years, he returned to Motorola in Illinois where the family lived in Rolling Meadows. He developed some electronic components for Motorola which were granted patents. In 1971, they moved to Alexandria where Don started his business, Star Electronic Service. He owned and operated this business for over thirty years before retiring.

While living in Alexandria Don was a member of Rotary Club for over forty years, he was on the Board of Directors for Selective TV, and an usher at St. Mary's Church. Don also enjoyed fishing.

Don died on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Knute Nelson. [Alexandria, MN]

He is survived by his wife, Doris; four children: Mary Louise (fiancé Daniel Talbot) of Napa, CA, Kendall J. (Sara) Kramer of Novato, CA, Julia E. (Allen) Simon of Palo Alto, CA, and Claire A. (Edward) McGowan of Gilbert, AZ; four
grandchildren: Grant, Sherry, Emily and Lucas; and two great grandchildren: Sadie and Lily.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Chloris Thuer; six brothers: Bernard, Lyle, Lyndon, Melvin, Woodrow and William.

Parish Prayer service was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
