The funeral Mass for Chloris M. Thuer will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church because of construction at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, Minn. with the Rev. Dennis Labat officiating. Burial will be in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery in Springfield.

Mrs. Thuer, 97, of Rochester, formerly of Springfield, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Samaritan Bethany Heights.

Chloris Kramer was born Aug. 29, 1908, in Lucan, Minn. She graduated from high school in Redwood Falls, Minn. in 1926, and from teachers training in 1927. On June 9, 1931 she married Jacob Thuer in Lucan. She was a teacher in the Lucan district for four years, the Dolan, Minn. district for three years and the Johnville, Minn. district for one year. She lived in Detroit briefly during World War II, lived for many years, in Springfield, and moved to Rochester in 2000. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, did volunteer work at the church and was a member of the Altar Society, and enjoyed Lourdes High School basketball games, golf, gardening and dancing.

Survivors include a daughter, Julene (William) Miller of Rochester; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Woodrow (Joyce) Kramer and Melvin (Florence) Kramer, both of Springfield and Don (Doris) Kramer of Alexandra, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 16, 1986, and four brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester where there will be an evening service at 7 p.m. Friends may call an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
