Velma Lucille Pruett, 84, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Denton, Texas.
She was born on December 7, 1927 in Greenwood, Texas to George Franklin and Nancy Malinda(Chappell) True. On January 26, 1947, she married Edwin Duaine Pruett in Lewisville, Texas. They made their home in Slidell where they raised their three children. Lucille served as Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Slidell for 28 years from 1964 to 1992 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Slidell.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin of Slidell; daughter, Ava Nell Manolas and husband, Ted of Chugiak, AK; two sons, Duaine Pruett of Slidell and Bert Pruett and wife, Denise of Slidell; five grandchildren, Ja Bounds of Waxahachie, Erin Belschner of Maypearl, T. J. Manolas, Laura Perry and Christopher Manolas all of Alaska; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Bounds.
