William Carol True was born in Greenwood, Wise County, TX, on March 24, 1911.
Parents: George Franklin True and Nancy Malinda Chappell.
Married: Dorotha Frances Phillips on November 23, 1941. One child, a daughter, was born to this marriage.
Married: Farrar Orlen Phillips Perkins on May 23, 1969.

Carol was the oldest of nine children, four of whom died between his birth and the next surviving sibling. He worked for many years on the family farm. In the late 1930s he was employed by Flusche Brothers in Decatur before being drafted into the U.S. Army for World War II. He served from March, 1942 to December, 1945 as a Tec4 with the 90th Infantry Division ("Tough Ombres") in Normandy, France, and the Rhineland. Returning to join his wife after discharge, the two opened a small neighborhood washateria near Seventh Street in Fort Worth.
May, 1949, Carol and Dot lost their home and business to the devastating flood of the Trinity River. They relocated to Lake Worth and he took a job with Consolidated Aircraft Plant. Later the GI Bill allowed Carol a career change to become a lathe operator, working for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and later Anadite Inc.
Dot died unexpectedly on July 13, 1966. Anadite announced its closing shortly thereafter and Carol sought employment with the Texas Turnpike Authority. He became a toll attendant on I-30 until his retirement in 1975. A second marriage united Dot's widowed sister, Farrar, with Carol until his death at home on March 13, 1979.
Mr. True lived in the Lake Worth community for over thirty years and was an active member of First Baptist, Lake Worth during that time.

Cause of death: cardio-vascular disease
