On Friday evening, March 25, 1892, John Riggle departed this life at the home of his parents, in Chartiers township, aged 22 years, of stomach disease. Mr. Riggle had been unwell for some months, but was able to be about until within a short time before his death. Only about two weeks before his decease he went to Mt. Clements, Michigan, but he was not benefited, and in a few days returned home and died at the time above given. During the three years which A. F. Hemphill served as county recorder, Mr. Riggle was his efficient and popular clerk, and last spring he was a candidate for the nomination for recorder on the Republican ticket, but was defeated by the present incumbent. Mr. Riggle was elected to a position in the First National bank of Canonsburg last spring by the directors, but was compelled to resign last fall on account of his failing health, Mr. Riggle was a young man highly esteemed and respected. He was a member of the First U. P. church of Houstonville, and a consistent Christian. A large circle of friends and relatives mourn his early death. Funeral services were held on Monday, and were conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. E. Douglass. The interment was in Oak Spring cemetery. The funeral was largely attended, and a long procession followed the remains to their resting place.
