Nina Corinne Olsen Lowe 1919 ~ 2006 Nina Corinne Olsen Lowe, 86, passed away June 1, 2006. She was born July 19, 1919 in Kimberly, Idaho to Niels Albert Olsen and Hannah Marie Sandberg, the eighth of nine children. Nina attended Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Idaho. She also attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho and Utah State in Logan, Ut. She married Sherman Burton Lowe June 20, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Paris, Idaho, where they opened up their first Lowe Drug Store, five of their seven children were born, and then eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Nina was a genuine, kind, loving, gentle and compassionate soul and was truly dedicated to her family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of positions throughout her life. She was Primary president, a ward librarian, a Relief Society visiting teacher supervisor, and was an instrumental leader in the church's Name Extraction Program.
As an officer in Lowes' Enterprises and a partner in Lowe Drug Company, she played a key role in building successful business interests with her husband. Nina and Sherman also worked together as a "team" in Lowe's Pharmacy. Nina was also involved with the Utah Pharmaceutical Auxiliary Association and was President of the Sugarhouse Lady Lions Club.

Nina's first daughter, Carolyn Ann, passed away at birth. She is survived by their six children and their spouses, Karen and Paul Nelson, Robert and Minnie Lowe, Barbara and Keith Johnson, JoAnn and Douglas Smith, Thomas and Marsha Lowe and Howard and Anne Lowe; twenty-eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren with one on the way; and one sister, Betty Carr.
Her family was what mattered most in her life and her home was always open and welcome to gatherings including every Sunday with a delicious roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy dinner. She had countless desirable qualities, including her kind, loving, gentle, unselfish, and giving nature. She never complained and saw the "good" in everyone, was very positive, and was always non-judgmental. She set a good example to everyone with whom she had dealings. She was a guardian angel to everyone around her, a true saint. The family feels honored and grateful to have been able to spend time in her presence and to have been able to care for her. From humble beginnings on a small farm in Idaho, where she cleaned the chicken coop each Saturday with her younger sister, Betty, to a college beauty queen, and then to a devoted wife and mother, and a church and community leader, Nina accomplished all of this with little fanfare or need for public recognition or acclaim.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2006, 12 noon, at the Parley's 6th Ward (2350 South 2100 East).
