In 1896 Alexander MacKenzie went for a buggy ride near Joliet, Ill. and got lost. When he stopped at a farm to inquire about where he was, he discovered that these people had also come to this country from Scotland. They asked him to dinner and he stayed, only to discover that the lady of the house had been his mother's bridesmaid years before in Scotland.

He married her daughter, Agnes Cheville, a short time later, on June 25, 1896 in the Presbyterian church in Joliet, Ill. They had 7 children.

Agnes and Alexander moved to Manitowac county, Wis. in 1917 and lived there the remainder of their lives. Agnes was a member of the Manitowoc Eastern Star.

Half century later, they happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage, Alexander died 3 years later.

They were buried along with MacKenzie and Cheville family members in Joliet, Illinios.
