Only 39 years old, Charles died from injuries suffered in a car crash at the corner of Chicago and Webster streets in Joliet. He was riding in a taxi which collided with 2 other cars. He died 4 days later.

Charles lived in Joliet most of his life. He was a member of L.O.O.M and F.O.E. He married Emma Marie Pike on Mar 27, 1906. They had no children.
