Born on the family farm in Spring Hill (Township); Gilbert was the third of twelve children (three sons & nine daughters) born to Frank & Mary K. (Braun) Weisser.

On 10 Nov 1937, Gilbert ("Gib") married Lorraine Mary Kulzer at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Greenwald, MN; he was age 24, she was 15. Born 8 January 1922 in Greenwald, MN, Lorraine was the second of five children born to John J. & Henrietta (Marthaler) Kulzer.

From his obituary, found posted online: "Gib & Lorraine moved from Greenwald to Sauk Centre in 1956 where he owned and operated Gibs Farm Service and the West Union Elevator until 1962. He was employed by Pierson Ford and John Wiese Ford as a salesman until his retirement in 1972. Gib was a former member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald, member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre; Knights of Columbus, and served as Executive Director of HRA Riverview Manor for 23 years. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, fishing and playing cards."
