Born 2 November 1914 in Spring Hill (Township), MN; Marie was the fourth of twelve children born to Frank & Mary K. (Braun) Weisser.

Sister Marie died 22 March 2010 at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud, MN.

From her obituary: "She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery on August 30, 1929, made her first monastic profession on July 11, 1934, taking the name Sister Placid. She made her perpetual profession on 11 July 11 1937 as a member of the Order of Saint Benedict. She celebrated her golden jubilee in 1984 and her 75th anniversary in 2009.

"Sister Marie attended District 135 grade school near Spring Hill and Saint Benedict's High School in Saint Joseph, MN. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Saint Benedict and a Master of Arts (EDUCATION) from Creighton University. She furthered her studies at the National Science Foundation summer programs in Denver, Arizona and Memphis.

"Sister Marie taught the intermediate and upper grades at Holy Angels and St. John Cantius, St. Cloud, MN; Richland Center, WI; Little Falls, MN; Breckenridge, MN; Wadena, MN; Sauk Rapids, MN; and Tacoma, WA. She taught biology/science at Cathedral High School, Saint Benedict's High School, St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing and the College of Saint Benedict. She served as librarian at the School of Nursing and later at the College of Saint Benedict. In 1982, she set up the Whitby Gift Shop at the monastery and managed it for 18 years. She continued to craft articles for sale until she retired to Saint Scholastica Convent in 2005."
