Minie Alyce Hall Brown, age 94 of San Augustine, Texas, formerly of Nederland, Texas died on Wednesday, December 8, 2011 at the Twin lakes Care Center in San Augustine after an illness.

Alyce was born in Newton, Texas on October 27, 1917 to the late William Harrison Hall, Sr. and Clara Lee Hall. She was predeceased by her sisters, Willie B Hall Sanford and Virginia Hall Gaudet and her two brothers W H "Humphy" Hall and Gene Hall, all buried in the Newton City Cemetery. She has three baby sisters buried at Ford Cemetery in Newton County.

She lived in Port Arthur, Texas and Nederland, Texas before moving to San Augustine in 2001. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1945 as an Air Operations Specialist and held the rank of sergeant.

She was the wife of the late Covy Lewis Brown.

Alyce is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Brown of Fayetteville, Arkansas, daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Steve Welch of Hemphill, Texas, brother, W. H. Hall III of St. Francisville, Louisiana, grandchildren, Bryan Brown and wife, Jenny of Fayetteville, Sarah Brown of Fayetteville and Jenny Welch of Pineland and brother-in-law, Howard Gaudet of Hemphill, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 9am on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with a graveside service to follow at 10am on Monday at the Newton City Cemetery.
