"My Grandmother"

My Grandmother's parents were James Richard Lee and Mary E. Hoard.

Granny was born at Lee's Mill in Newton County and she and Grandpa Hall married Octoer 15, 1904. They were married by C.A. Woods.

Clara Alice Lee Hall, age 70 of Newton, Texas died at 12 noon Tuesday at her home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with the Reverend J.D. Weaver officiating.

Buriel will be in the Newton City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hall was a member of a widely known and distinguished family of Newton County. She was the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs. J.R. Lee (Mary Hoard), well known citizens and leaders in this section for many years. Her Father, J.R. Lee was a County Commissioner for many years. Her husband, Judge W.H. Hall, Sr. has been an official of Newton County for almost half a century, retiring as County Attorney without seeking re-election last year.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, William Harrison Hall, Sr., her two sons W.H. "Humpy" Hall and R.E. "Gene" Hall both of Newton, the grandson she raised, Wendell Hall (son of Humphy) of St. Francisville, Louisiana, her three daughters, Miss Wilie B Hall and Mrs. Virginia Hall Gaudet both of Newton and Mrs. Alyce Hall Brown of Port Arthur, Texas. Seven other grandchildren also survive, Johnnie and Missy Gaudet, David and Beth Brown, Pat and Mary Alice Hall and Bettie Jean Hall. Another grandson was born in 1956 who is Gene's son Ricky Eugene Hall.

Pallbearers are Stewart Lee, Herman Hall, Johnnie Hurst, Clyde Adams, John Robert Stewart and Marvin Booker.
