John Wheeler Adams was the third child and second boy of Joseph Adams and Nancy Widick Adams. He was a brother to Millie (Myers), George W. Adams, Florence (Harpold), Emily Adams (died in infancy), Idia Adams (died in infancy), Norman Adams (died in infancy), Iva (Cazalet), Jessie C. Adams, Eva (Johnson), Elizabeth (Corzine) and Anna (Denby). He married Jessie Ponting. Their children were; Armour Adams, Thurman Adams, Lois (Lowe), Alta (Hight), Zelma (Curren) and Cecelia (Walsh). At one time John Wheeler and Jessie owned one of the largest homes in the Moweaqua area that was known as "The Homestead" and later became the setting of a 2009 movie titled The Informant!.
