Tom was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Guthrie and Allie Layne. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from Dec. 13, 1941, to Nov. 13, 1945, including a tour of duty at Pearl Harbor during World War II. Tom was an avid fisherman, and he spent many a day and night on the Brazos River, Lake Waco, and TP&L Lake. He was also a master mechanic in his time, capable of dismantling and reassembling a car.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Jean; sons, Thomas Parker Jr., Robbie, and Michael; brothers, Guthrie Jr. and JB; and sister, Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Paul, Teresa, Rick, Marc, and Thomas; step-children, Ray, Diane, Pat, Loretta, Carolyn, Donald, Cleatha; and their families; over 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Golemon and Marjorie Golan; and many other family members and friends.
