Wapello County Native Dies at 84
Philip R. Conley, 84, died Thursday at 2 PM at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Collett, 222 Paris Street, following a year of failing health. He was the son of Phillip and Juan Conley and was born October 31, 1862 near agency and spent his entire life in this community.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Collett and Mrs. Pansy Collett, both of Ottumwa; one sister, Allie Hill of Ottumwa; one brother, Sherman Conley of Los Angeles and seven grandchildren. His wife, Cordie, preceded him in death, February 9, 1944. Christian Science services will be held at the community funeral home, 1419 E. 2nd St., at 2 PM Saturday. Pallbearers will be Ray Hill, Alan Duckworth, Albert Groger, Tom Denny, H. P. McFadden and Fred Guiter. Burial will be in the Burns cemetery and the body will remain at the community funeral home until time for services.
