Darleen McCloud, 69, Ozark, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 1995, in Cox Medical Center South. She was born July 26, 1925, in St. Louis, the daughter of Walter E. and Leona Koch Crabtree. She was a graduate of Hodgen School in St. Louis. On March 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to William F. “Mac” McCloud, and to this union five children were born. She was employed as a Nurse Assistant at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis and St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, having retired in 1986. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter E. Crabtree; her husband, William F. “Mac” McCloud; her son, William F. “Billy McCloud; her grandson, Darren J. Hammett; and one sister, Shirley Reddick. Survivors include her mother, Leona Crabtree, Nixa; four daughters, Phyllis J. McCloud and Sharron S. Baumgartner, both of Ozark, Cheryl L. Newberry and her husband Michael, Chesterfield, and Vicky A. Hitchcock and her husband Randy, Billings; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ted Crabtree, St. Louis; many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 24, 1995, at Ascension Church in Chesterfield with Father Joseph Pins officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barricks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday Feb. 23, 1995, at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles. Local arrangements are under the direction of Harris, a Heritage Funeral Home, Nixa.
