Ruby V. Ethel, 86, of Zanesville, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Genesis Extended Care & Rehab Center.

Born Oct. 8, 1918, in Zanesville, she was a homemaker, member of Calvary Baptist Church and a graduate of Lash High School. She was a Sunday school teacher, played piano for church and loved to crochet.

Surviving are a son, George E. (Cheryl) Ethell of Hopewell; a daughter, Ruth L. (John) Bowers of Zanesville; a brother, Jerry Gebhart; sisters, Janet Smith, Shirley Wheeler, Julianne Gilbreath, Doris Godwin, Evelyn Wilson and Esther Fields; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Ethell; her parents, Carl and Eva Allen Gebhart; inant twin sons; brothers, Herman, Edwin and Dewey Gebhart; and sisters, Lavonne Bartlett Marple and Eleanor Black.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 8, at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 S. Fifth St.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the funeral home, with Pastor C. Frank Maple officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
