Dee Humphries Wilcken was called home suddenly Nov. 28, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He had suffered a heart attack two days earlier. He was expecting to fully recover and return home within days when his transfer to another field of labor came. He celebrated his 88th birthday just 23 days before, having been born to George Q Carlisle and Vera Ann Humphries Wilcken in Abraham, Utah on Nov. 5, 1923. He was active and involved fully in life, his family, and giving service to the very end.

He married the love of his life, Cleone Wilcox, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1946. He graduated from Davis High School, BAC, and obtained his B.S. degree from Utah State University before commencing a long career as a teacher of Industrial Arts. He began teaching in Eureka at Tintic High school in 1950. He moved his young family to Enoch when he began teaching at Cedar High School in 1952, where they lived and raised their four sons and one daughter.

Dee was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving through many years wherever he was called including service as the last Bishop of the original Enoch ward, five full-time missions with his wife, and as a temple ordinance worker. He sang in and conducted ward and stake choirs, was a member of The Master Singers in its first and second editions, attending his final rehearsal just eight days before his passing. Dee was also an avid wood turner, belonging to the Southern Utah Wood Turners club for the last two years. He was devoted to family, his church, learning, and giving service throughout his life.

He is survived by children, Bruce Jay (Louise), Parowan, Gary Dee (Joyce), Enoch, Annette (Floyd) Scott, Folsom, California, Scott Lyle (Lori); Leamington, Utah, daughter-in-law Ann; Enoch, Sister, Dorothy Winberg, Ogden, Utah; brothers-in-law Hal (Vonnie)Wilcox, Clearfield, Utah, and Dean, (Barbara) Wilcox; Orem, Utah,

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Cleone; his parents; sisters Beth (Tom) Adams, Elaine (Dick) Nelson, and Louise; son, Ted Howard (Ann); and great grandsons, Spencer Dee and Kyle Eric.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec.3rd, at the Enoch Wards chapel 451 E. Midvalley Rd. at 11:00 A.M. Viewing will be at the chapel from 5:00 to7:00 P.M. Friday night and again Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Internment will be at the Enoch City Cemetery under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the church humanitarian, missionary, or perpetual education funds.
