Mary Viola Treece was born July 1, 1883, at Castana and passed from this life in the Lutheran hospital at Sioux City on July 30at the age of 84 years 29 days. She was a daughter of Alfred (should be Jefferson) and Ledocia Kisling. Mrs. Treece had been in failing health for several weeks.
She was united in marriage to George Treece on December 6, 1932 at Blair, Neb. He preceded her in death.
She had made her home in Monona County almost all her life, having lived in Kansas, Nebraska and Oregon for a short time. Viola was a member of the First Christian Church and Elise Rebekah Lodge of Onawa.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Paul (Freda) summons of Sioux City; three grandchildren; a step son, Claude Treece of Onawa; a number of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons in infancy and a son Lester, in 1950.
The funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2 at the Onawa Christian Church, Rev. Richard Lankford of Whiting officiated. Miss Jane Reynolds was organists.
Bearers were W. F. Mesenrink, Frank Koontz, George Grunk, Dale Kreger, Harold Loomis and John tyson. Interment in the Onawa cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson funeral home.
