MARION - Mrs. Lurline Patton Byars, 78 , widow of Luther T. Byars, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery directed by Smith Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Byars was born in Jackson, Miss., a daughter of the late John W. Patton and Mrs. Lurline Waters Patton. She was a graduate of Millsaps College and had lived in Marion since 1921. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, John A. Byars of Spartanburg; a daughter, Mrs. Lurline Byars Stedman of Marion; and 10 grandchildren.
