CROWELL M. FOUNTAIN
DIED-- At his home in Greenbrier Township, Mr. Crowell M. Fountain, on Friday, Dec. 14, 1894, aged seventy-four years.
The subject of the above notice was born on Staten Island, New York, Dec. 8, 1820, where he lived until 1836, when he moved to Illinois, where he married Mary Jane Prescott in 1855.
In 1866 he moved with his family to Waterloo, Blackhawk county, Iowa. In 1871 he came to Greene county, Iowa where he resided until his death as noticed above. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death. In early life he united with the M.E. Church and remained a member until he moved to Greene county, where he united with the Church of Christ of which he remained a worthy and consistent member until his death. He was also a member of the Masonic order. Of his early Masonic history the writer knows nothing. But he united with Sunbeam lodge of Bagley, as a charter member in 1885. His lodge life, like his church life, was worthy and consistent. He was always at his post of duty until hindered by infirmities of age and disease. Even within the past few years he has manifested his unshaken fidelity in the order by cheering us with his presence, though with bent form and tottering footsteps.
His death, like his life, was peace, in that he could look back on a life well spent an die in the blessed hope of a glorious immortality. His remains were followed by a large concourse of friends and neighbors to the cemetery, where he was laid to rest by the Masonic fraternity. WTM
Christ will be the living splendor
Christ, the sunlight mild and tender,
Praises to the Lamb we render,
Ah, 'tis heaven at last!

Broken death's dread bands that bound him,
Life and victory around him,
Christ, the king himself has crowned him,
Ah, "tis heaven at last!"
