James Harold Bowen, born 28 MAY 1928 in Bulloch County, Georgia, died 07 JUL 1989 in the Veterans Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. At the age of 16, he drove the Evans County School Bus on the regular route for Canoochee Grammer School, and to Claxton High School. Harold served a tour of duty in the United States Navy and afterward his honorable discharge he opened and began operating a very successful, small rural grocery store at the North corner Adabelle Road and US Highway 301 in Bulloch County, Georgia. His store included many dry goods, as well as gasoline, ice from his ice house. Harold married Atha Lee Strickland (1925 - 2011) and together they raised four children, two sons and two daughters, named below in birth order:

3. Cathy Lou Bowen
4. Andy Harold Bowen
James Harold (called "Harold" by everyone who knew him) was the eldest son of Alfred Jackson Bowen, Jr. (1899 - 1971) and Ethel Marguerite Jones (1908 - 1997). All the children of Harold's parents are listed below, in birth order:
