Clyde Randford "Randy" Bowen, 76, passed away at his home in Gainesville after battling poor health for more than ten years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alma Vaughn Kennedy, a son and daughter-in-law, Reed Stephens Bowen and Christy Halloran Bowen, Flowery Branch; daughter Amy Bowen Smith, Gainesville; and a son and daughter-in-law Robert Scott Bowen and Kay Gilstrap Bowen, Buford, four grandchildren, Heather, Breanna, Erika and Emily; four siblings, Alfred Jackson Bowen, III, William Kenneth Bowen, Charles Elliott Bowen, and Alice Marguerite Bowen Cavanaugh. He was preceded in death by grandson, Randford Ryan Smith, Gainesville, daughter-in-law, Joanna Elliott Bowen, Gainesville, his parents Ethel Marguerite Jones and Alfred Jackson Bowen, Jr and brothers James Harold Bowen of Register, Georgia and Martin Eastwood Bowen of Claxton, Georgia.

Randy was born Dec. 23, 1934, and grew up on a large family farm in Evans County, seven miles from the County Seat, Claxton, Georgia. While still a small child, his curiosity indicated the path he would later take in life. Once he climbed into the family "Ice Box," shut the door and was found by his brothers when returning from School. A few months later, he crawled into a much larger "Ice House" which was not in use, shut the door and was found by his brother Kenneth, who passed by and heard a "tiny" voice asking for help (his calls for help exiting through a very small "pencil size" drain hole of the floor). Both times he was found before disaster struck. His interest in cooling equipment became a lifetime passion and occupation.

After graduating from Claxton High School, Randy attended North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, Georgia, enrolling in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. After graduation from North Georgia Technical College, RANDY and his younger brother, CHARLES, enlisted on April 1, 1957, in the US Air Force for four years. He served in Maine and his last year's duty station was in Iceland.

After his military service, he and his young family, made their home in Gainesville, Georgia. He worked almost 40 years in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and plumbing, retiring from Porter's in Gainesville, Georgia. A member of the Baptist faith, he took great pleasure in making people laugh throughout the years.
