Althea Hughett Shoemaker Lewallen, 84, of Oneida, passed away April 17, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Born in Litiz, Pennsylvania, January 5, 1926, she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, the father of her children, Kenneth Hughett, Sr.; second husband, Harley Shoemaker; one son, Robert (Bob) Hughett; and step-granddaughter, Jessie Smith. She was an active member of West Oneida United Baptist Church for 63 years and accepted her Lord and Savior at the age of 21. She and her first husband were owners of Hughett Carpet Sales for 20 years and she was a volunteer at the Scott County Hospital for 18 years; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; and enjoyed people, fishing, and bowling. She is survived by her husband, Lincoln Lewallen of Oneida; her children: Ken Hughett, Jr. and wife, Judy, of Ringgold, Ga., Eileen Kettering and husband, Jim, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sharon Shoopman and husband, Kirk, of Oneida; eight grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Betty Fraxer of PA; step-children, Clark Lewallen, and Wanda Hengel and husband, Jack, of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers-in-law, Paul and Gene Hughett, both of Oneida; and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted April 20, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Hutson and Dr. Doug White officiating. Entombment was to have been conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, at Carson Memorial Mausoleum. Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
