Ernestine L. Akers, 82, of Springfield died at 9:13 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Hospital. She was born Nov. 23, 1905, the daughter of Ernest L. and Martha A. Hyatt Miller. She married Jean Houston Akers in 1925, and he died in 1952. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Odessa Holly Paul.
Mrs. Akers was a member of DAR. Surviving are two sons, Jay H. and Ray H. Akers, both of Springfield; one daughter, Beatrice Akers of Springfield; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Monte D. Morgan of Springfield; and one niece.
Services at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. John Jamison officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
