From the History of Broome County, NY it said the following, pg. 302 (Note: The author failed to mention Alexander Hamilton McClure as one of William & Sarah's children.);
In December, 1791, a son was born to Mr. MacClure; the event occurred at Oquaga, in the Knox neighborhood, at the house of a Mr. Swope, whither Mrs. MacClure was taken to secure female attendance. His (William MacClure Sr.)eldest son, William Esq., was also a surveyor whose duties embraced the laying out of most of the roads of this vicinity and the greater portion of the surveying in this section after he reached maturity. He was also a man of great prominence in the town; held the office of supervisor many years and enjoyed the respect of all. He lived in Deposit and died in 1874 at the age of eighty-three. His son, William McClure III, of Deposit, is a grandson of the elder William.
